• I won’t lie. The night after reading Casey Diaz’ account of life in the streets of LA as a hell-bent gangbanger, I lay awake in my house thinking that I was hearing people breaking and entering. He might have pulled some punches in describing doing whatever he could to show his peers how dark he was. But I think he didn’t pull many.
  
  “The Shotcaller” may not be a read for the faint of heart.
  
  But it is a read for people with a heart, and a soul. Diaz’ life was supernaturally transformed through the power of some things that many in the 21st century disregard as old-fashioned, or pure myth. The persevering prayer of a virtual stranger. The life’s work of a carpenter born centuries ago in a stable outside of Bethlehem. It takes heart and soul to read an honest man’s account of a supernatural intervention that he was not looking for or planning on or working toward. When a strong man with a strong mind admits to giving himself up to something so real, so powerful, and so foreign to his previous way of thinking and living – and when he tells us of all of the things that started happening in his life, against all hope – maybe we should listen. Today, one of those men is Casey Diaz.
  
  This is not the story of a rotten-to-the-core man who one day woke up and decided on his own to turn over a new leaf. This is not a testament to the penal system and its power to transform a life. This is the story of a sinful child who was shown mercy by his supernatural father, who created him and whose love for him was unshakable despite that child’s complete and utter rebellion.
  
  Some may find the violence Diaz describes in “The Shotcaller” to be upsetting. But acknowledging the sin may serve to fully illustrate the magnitude of the triumph. And to remind us to be careful in our judgments no one is beyond the reach of their supernatural father.
• This is an amazing story of how God's redemptive power changed the life of someone no one believed could change. At 16, Casey was so feared he had to be placed in solitary confinement in prison, not for his safety but for the safety of other prisoners and correctional officers. One woman's prayers and belief in God's power to redeem made all the difference in Casey's life. This book was an eye opener in terms of revealing the total devaluation of human life that exists in gang culture and the resulting violence that occurs. But more importantly it's the story of God's love and power triumphing over the worst of man's sin nature, and how He will use anyone who makes himself/herself available to Him to accomplish great things. The most significant takeaway for me in this book is that I need to pray more, pray boldly, and be available myself to be used by God.
• Reading Casey’s story is a glimpse into the heart of God. Who would want a violent savage gang member, with years of hate, hurting people, and self destruction? Jesus would! And Jesus is still using ordinary people to do extraordinary things!
• I received his book a few days ago. WOW!!! I CANNOT express how I feel after reading this great story of a GREAT miracle, created by the GREAT God...my God! I cried in sadness, I was SO angry, I was lost in thought, I sobbed in joy, I was a total emotional mess! I could NOT put it down! I felt as if I were there with him! IT IS INCREDIBLE!
  Casey, THANK YOU for sharing your story. There's an immense admiration for what you allowed our Lord to do in your life! I'm in awe of it!
  GOD IS REAL!!! Never stop praying for your loved ones - the "impossible" ones. If God did it in and for this man (READ THE BOOK!), GOD CAN CHANGE ANYONE AND DO ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING!!! ❤
• I always wanted to know how "religious" a convict had to be for parole. Through Mr. Diaz's transformation and the input from the INS agents, Mr. Diaz has genuinely changed his life through his conviction to Christ. His life has been truly blessed after his acceptance of his evil deeds. The book also gives insight to the world of the gangs — an excellent read. Kudos to you and the best to you, your family and your congregation.
• Really enjoyed reading how Christ transformed this man's life. All of us have sinned and need to acknowledge what Jesus did for us by his death. Mr. Diaz was repentant, very brave and truthfully shared his faith with others even when it could have cost him his life here on earth. He knew he was saved either way. I encourage you to read this...I couldn't put it down.
• This book had me from the beginning. I don't even know how I heard about the book, but I pre-ordered it and was excited when it arrived. Reading Casey's life experience was hard sometimes and is not for the faint of heart, but it helps you see the dramatic change that took place. This book is an encouragement to me as I have felt discouraged in not seeing prayers for unsaved friends and family answered, but this book reminded me to keep praying. Keep interceding for those you love in prayer because prayer works. I highly recommend reading this book!
• I read the Shot Caller in just a couple of days. Casey Diaz was transformed by Christ in prison from a ruthless gang leader to a model citizen, a loving son, father and husband. I especially enjoyed his insights on keeping kids out of gangs and the warning signs to look for. His experience of leaving prison and looking for a good church and fellowship was convicting. I would encourage everyone to read this book to better understand the gang issues, and consider where the Christian community can do more to combat societal issues that lead to gang involvement.

• This cook book came only two days ago but I have already made one recipe. She inspired me to go outside my comfort zone a cook liver for the first time in my life! This morning I sat down with the awesome meal planning section of the book and plotted out our next week. I really love that most of the meals in this book are complete and balanced so I didn't have to spend time patching together recipes or adding things. I also appreciate how detailed every recipe is about storage, reheating instructions, alternatives based on your food sensitivities or allergies. Leanne seriously took the time to make this cookbook for EVERYONE in the Keto community. My only request is for future books would be “treats” with no alternative sweeteners at all as I'm trying to wean myself off them, but that’s a tall order. Oh, and while this book is more focused recipes and meal planning than her other books, it still had a very good little section on eating for your hormones and cycle. It’s very easy to understand and I look forward to referencing it and trying it out.
• I’m in awe! Thank you so much Leanne for making this book. I have your previous book that taught me all about whole food keto and introduced me to dairy-free living. I not only love this new paperback, but I always return to your first paperback book when I feel overwhelmed and need to just relax. • This book is for anyone intersted in Keto. If you are new to the Keto way of life, have been keto for years, or struggle with finding recipes that fit your needs, I highly recommend you purchasing 'The Keto Diet Cookbook' by Leanne Vogel. It is filled with more than just recipes. She packed it full of information to help guide you on your ketogenic journey. The information Leanne provides is done in a way that is easy to understand and isn't overwhelming. Her meal planning section is genius! By categorizing meals based on the caloric intake, and grouping them together, is game changing! The layout of the book makes it easy to find what you are looking for. For those of us that have to modify recipes due to allergies and/or due to an autoimmune disease, she provides you with the information needed to make the modification, specific to your needs. I am excited to cook my way through this cookbook.
• I have most of her books and listen to her podcast regularly. I was worried the book would have nothing new to offer but What! Whoah! Seriiiooouusly? Yeah, she did it again. New info, meticulously thoughtful tools/charts and fun new recipes. I went through every page of it on the first day it was available because if you are Keto obessesed like me, it just doesn’t get better than Leanne’s material. Thank you and well done!
• Where do I even start? This book has pretty much everything you need to know to go keto, so it's perfect for the newbie as well as the experienced keto-er. It has beautiful pictures of every recipe, because seriously, who wants a cookbook without pictures? It has so many options - how to make it dairy free, nightshade free, etc. You can look up recipes by key ingredients, (e.g. BACON) and see every recipe that has that ingredient. Leanne talks about macros and hormones and how and why and like I said, pretty much everything you want to know. This is hands down my new favorite keto cookbook - (sorry every other author).
• I'll start off by saying that I have Leanne's first Keto Diet book. It's very thorough and loaded with great information. This book however, focuses a bit more on meal planning and once again a variety of ways to formulate YOUR Keto plan. Leanne is a big proponent, especially for women, to do Keto differently; there are a few Keto experts out there also touting the need for women to do it differently given our complex hormonal system. She's 100% right when it comes to balancing hormones for women on the diet and how to work the diet for you. The recipes are awesome - quick with loads of information for substitutions and even cooking styles - want to do this in the pressure cooker instead? She tells you how. It's worth the 20 bucks I paid for sure. I'm looking forward to making more things and continuing to tweak Keto as needed. If you're into Keto and a woman, definitely get this cookbook. It's also a beauty, beautiful pictures and flows very nicely. Love it!
• I am so excited about his book! Leanne does it again giving you great info in a super easy to understand way. Plus, bacon wrapped avocado fries?! I can't even wait to make those. She also added tons of great info on meal planning and added lots of new beverage recipes. I'm so excited about this book. If you want to go Keto or you are keto you need this book! The Broccoli Tabouleh with Greek Chicken thighs is a totally delicious recipe by the way!

• I’m not good with words and have never given a review on a book before, but here goes.
  
  I LOVED this book. I was interested in this book because it is about my home town and my high school. After reading the first chapter, I was hooked and could not put it down.
  It was entertaining and had such a suspense to it that I just had to keep reading to find out what happened next.
  I recommend this book to everyone who loves to read. It not only shows the happy things in life but shows what all families go through every day. Love and tragedy plus perseverance.
  Even if you are not an avid reader, I think you will enjoy this book.

• Only if Ronni finishes the book about Violets life will she get the money, so no mystery there.
  The "fat" girl is a size 12! And like Violet at her age the most beautiful girl around.
  I was looking for a feel good story but this is like eating refined sugar.
  The characters are all too nice and basically have no personality.
  I'm one third into the book and both stories are dragging and way too fairy tale.
• Loved this book. It is easy to get swept up in the lives of the characters. I put off reading the book until I could have the time to really enjoy it. I read it in a day and a half because I couldn’t put it down. I highly recommend this book along with the other two written by Beth Duke

I laughed , I cried, I dreamed, and I believed! “It All Comes Back To You” is one of the most well written novels I’ve read in quite a while. I was mesmerized by Beth Duke’s ability to immediately lure the reader into the lives of her characters with such vivid imagery and charm. The very first page captivated my attention and kept it until the final sentence. I loved the southern charm which eminated throughout the story making the characters more believable and loved. The twists and turns, as well as the intertwining of the lives of the characters made this out to be a very exciting and enjoyable book. I would highly recommend this book and can’t wait to read Beth Duke’s next novel!
• I loved this book so much. I had a very hard time putting it down. I didn’t want it to end and find myself thinking about Ronni and Violet and how I miss these characters. I have lost both of my parents recently and have been reading mostly books on grief. I decided I needed to read a fun book that will take me out of my of my head and this book succeeded in doing that and I am grateful.

• I've read every Scarpetta book, some more than once, but this is the last one. Depraved Heart may be the worst book I've ever read. Plodding doesn't begin to describe it. I made up my mind that I would finish it and I did, but it was a chore. I don't understand Cornwell's intent with this series, but the plots strain credulity and Kay Scarpetta has become insufferably smug and elitist. Half of this. book was about Lucy's estate and cars and original art work and the perfume Benton orders for Kay from Italy, etc. And I was VERY unhappy that the monumental cliffhanger ending of the previous book was not even mentioned!!! Goodbye, Kay, it was nice while it lasted.
• I used to eagerly anticipate the next in Kay Scarpetta series. However, the past couple of books I have begun to wonder if maybe it is time for Kay to retire. I found myself dragging myself through Depraved Heart and it took me much longer to read than usual due to my lack of interest. The data fiction aspect, the "villian" that never seems to die all made it more tiresome than not. It doesn't help that Lucy becomes more unlikeable and unpleasant in each book. The "family" is super secretive and unbelievable. Even Kay has lost her luster. If you are new to the Scarpetta series I would definitely not recommend it at all. It's definitely a book that you need to know the background of the characters for. If you are a Scarpetta fan, be forewarned that it is not the Scarpetta that you are used to.
• I'll say it right out...Patricia Cornwell needs to find/create some new material. She has really painted herself into a corner with the Scarpetta series. She has removed all real tension by giving her main characters, Kay and Lucy, everything they want, so there is nothing left but to puff them up to over-the-top proportions and then infuse them with paranoia and arrogance and surround them with people who want to take everything away. This isn't a murder mystery. It's psychological warfare, six layers deep, and it's boring as hell. Kay has become all about gourmet cooking, fancy vacations, designer clothes, expensive haircuts and life with her tedious stick of a husband, Benton. Lucy and Carrie have become both sides of the same James Bond super-villian, complete with gadgets, cars, helicopters and planes, endless government conspiracies, and limitless money. Jeez, enough! What happened to random murders, new psychos, and autopsies? Cornwell has made the huge mistake of changing her main characters until they are no longer sympathetic, believable, or interesting. And I agree with the others; ENOUGH ABOUT CARRIE! Back to basics, Patricia!
• I used to love the Scarpetta books for the science, the unexpected story arc, the relationships. I think Cornwell is merely regurgitating the same old, same old now. Enough with Carrie already. Enough with how corrupt FBI is. The only interesting idea, data fiction, was just a throw away. Wish the author would get her game back.
• ive reached page 123 and only for I have absolutely nothing else to read I wouldn't bother. I'm sick to death of the depressing person Kay has turned into, the paranoia and once again a blast from the past intent on destroying her and her family. It's the same in every book. I really miss the early books and wish she would write one in which she's investigating just a murder. Not someone being killed and it ends up all being a plot against the great Kay. She's so depressing and stuck up in recent books would anyone mind if she was killed off? Lucy gets more unbearable with every book, Marino is just used as the idiot slob and Benton is like an android. I don't want to read about Carrie, I didn't like when she was first introduced and I have no interest in reading about her again. The whole book just comes off as grey, there's nothing likeable about any of the characters.
• I have read all of the series and they just keep getting more self-absorbed and moronic. This is not a standalone book. It must be read with the one before-- and probably the one after-- to be meaningful. The plot and characters are increasingly implausible. The attempts to inject this thriller with literary devices, mystery, and "meaning" are laughable.
• I have been reading Scapretta since the first book. For years, I waited until the next book was released, but that is not longer the case. The books are about the family more than and outside "bad guy", solving crimes. The books seem more melodrama than mystery/thriller. Get back to solving crimes and chasing bad guys, leave the family drama and Carrie behind. We fell in love with Scarpetta's quick brain not with her familial entanglements.
